Chapter 1.4 Proportions and Nonproportional Relationships

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Proportional and Nonproportional relationships! This is Miss Stockwell this time, so don't be alarmed by the voice change. :-p  I think you'll enjoy this section. Just think, after this lesson you will be able to figure out if the cost of pizza is proportional to the number of pizzas you buy and other comparisons to impress your friends with. When we're saying proportional or nonproportional we're really saying equivalent or non equivalent, so don't be nervous about the vocabulary! Explore these videos, take notes if you want and see you tomorrow in class:

Chapter 1.3 CONVERTING UNIT RATES

Good Morning to all,

I hope you are all getting the hang of READING the blog and WATCHING the videos.  Some of you are taking notes and some are not.  If you are doing so, please write these out in your working spiral and document them in the Table of Contents.

In class you are doing your classwork, assistments(will start soon), and centers.  Make certain you get into a routine of doing a problem and then checking the answer - if this matches your answer, great- go onto the next problem.  If not, find your mistake in your work before going on
(as a group).  You are working as a group so this will help finding the mistakes and correcting them.

Converting Unit Rates is a LOADED section.  Your job is to change the units to match and then simplify them!  Sounds simple, heh?  Pay attention as this is a bit TRICKY!  Find the pattern and it all becomes routine.

HOMEWORK for tonight is to watch the following videos:

For those of you who were absent, the classwork is:
