Chapter 7.2

Good Afternoon to all,

Lesson 2 is on Special Angles, namely,
 COMPLEMENTARY and SUPPLEMENTARY ANGLES!
Knowing this information will be instrumental in solving many problems in Geometry.
So these are your vocabulary words to be added
into your Reference Spirals!
Complementary Angles are 2 angles that add up to 90*. They do not need to be connected, but generally they are.
Supplementary Angles are 2 angles that add up to 180*. Again, they do not have to be connected either.
It is essential that you learn these angles as they are used frequently in solving problems, so.....
I think of complementary angles as 90* and supplementary angles as 180* as they are alphabetically correct- meaning c comes before s and 90 comes before 180.
I also think that c is half of an s - so 90 is half of 180.
Or just LEARN THEM.  This is utmost important that you do so  as you are always in the lookout for 90* and 180*!
Check out the videos and take notes in your Reference Spiral and remember accuracy and appeal are important.

Julia and Brother "peace"ing out!

Chapter 6.8 2 Step Inequalities

Good Evening to everyone tonight,
We are continuing on with our work at solving inequalities.  Remember an inequality is not a balance as in an equation,
but there are many similar ways in solving both.
Do you remember the little trick though????? It has to do with using a negative number?????  Look back at the blog entry 6.5 if you need to be reminded.  So, watch the videos and take notes.
If you have any questions, make sure they get asked either in class or email!

Chapter 7.1 ANGLES!

Good Evening,
And we are embarking on a new chapter and concept- GEOMETRY!!! Yippee!!
You are not to abandon all information you have learned on previous chapters, but rather, you are adding GEOMETRY properties to this knowledge.  You must pay attention to the vocabulary as geometry is rich in its' vocabulary.  So be prepared to have many terms to define and explain in a meaningful manner.

Chapter 6.7 Inequalitites

Good Evening to everyone,

We are still working on solving inequalities.  Inequalities are not solving for one solution like an equation, but rather solving for many solutions to the variable.  For instance, x is greater than 5.  So every number above 5 is a solution to that inequality.  In many ways, the solving of both equations and inequalities are the same.  There is one important difference that we must pay attention to. That difference  is when you are Multiplying or Dividing that inequality with a NEGATIVE NUMBER you must reverse the < > signs.  Negative means opposite, so you must flip these signs when solving with negatives.  The examples will help, but you must add this to your Reference Spirals in bold to remember this fact!

Chapter 6.6 INEQUALITIES!

Good Evening to all,
In this next lesson we are talking about Inequalities.  This vocabulary word means that something is either larger than or smaller than the other.  In this case we are talking about math and it would be the < or > symbols that you are so familiar with.  In addition to that, there is also the greater than and equal sign and the less than and equal sign.  So, we are building on what we already know about solving equations,
but this time we are solving inequalities.
Inequalities is your new vocabulary word!

Chapter 6.5 MORE 2 Step Equations

Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,
So we are on lesson 6 and that is still combining everything we have done so far in MATH!!
We are balancing 2 step equations using negatives, fractions, decimals and distributive property! WOW, have you folks come a long way.
The book has you solving the 2 step equations one way and then there is another way that I have taped for your audio pleasure!  Look for both ways and find the one that works for you!

Another heart melting puppy, Jenson's puppy.

This cute little video was brought to you from Julia and her little kitties- one is fetching an elastic!!

Chapter 6.4 2 STEP EQUATIONS!

Good Evening,
Ok, so just when you think things can't get more complicated,
they do.
We are moving onward to solving Equations with 2 STEPS!
I know you have mastered this solving equations with 1 step so you are ready to move forward!  Follow format to make this as slick as possible.
When you solve 2 Step Equations - start with + - first step
then x / second step
Take notes in your Reference Spirals  as you watch  the videos.

I would like to introduce you to my fur family: In blue: Tequilla, in green: Teaser, in red: Penellope and in yellow: Lola.  They are all dressed up and ready to go!

Chapter 6.3 Equations with Rational Coefficients

Good Evening and doesn't
the title of this section sound SMART!
I bet you can impress all as you can do this stuff and
dazzle your parents and friends!
We are pulling together everything from past chapters- fractions, negatives and algebra rules! We can do this, one step at a time.
So remember what rational number are?  I know you do, but just in case- rational numbers are all whole numbers and fractions and some decimal numbers- the ones that end or have a pattern! And coefficients are the number part of a variable term. This is your one and only vocabulary for this section!
 Hope this jogs your memory.
We will be working with fractions and decimals as coefficients!  Sounds easy huh? Tee hee, I like it to sound hard but all the while it is fairly easy if you follow the rules! So off to the videos and when you have mastered these algebra problems, show your parents.  Be careful as you may end up teaching them!

Here's Andrew's Kitty.  Looks like a fun furball!
