Good Evening,
As you know, I am moving the math class into a more Proficiency Based class, so we will be focusing on understandings of concepts and learning the standards. We are now in the GEOMETRY DOMAIN.
We are in the STANDARD of Solving problems involving scale drawings (7.G.A.1).
This section, we will be working on Scale Drawings. This section is generally know to many students as you often use models and maps and such to design rooms or calculate distances. If one was to look at a picture of your favorite aunt and see her sitting on a couch, you will know that the couch might be 6ft long in real life, but in the photo, the couch is far smaller.
The videos will now be released AFTER the PROBLEM SOLVING activity so that you have time to understand the concept on your own. This is a major change also.
The vocabulary for this section is SCALE and SCALE DRAWINGS and SCALE FACTOR.
Scale is the RATIO that compares the measurement ( and ratio can look like a fraction).
Scale Drawing can be a model or drawing that represents the actual thing.
Scale Factor is the ratio with units and in simplest form- such as 1/12 the size of the original.
